Synopsis:

The practical laboratories give advanced practical skills by experimental work in optics. Laboratory records must be elaborated.

Requirements:

It is recommended to finish the subjects Physical Optics 1 (12FOPT1) and Physical Optics 2 (12FOPT2) prior to the Advanced Optical Laboratory.

1. Introduction, working group assignment.

2. Task No.1: Anisotropy of optical materials and its applications.

3. Task No.2: Diffraction of light and diffractive structures.

4. Task No.3: Holography II.

5. Task No.4: Two-wave and multi-wave interference.

6. Task No.5: Optical signal processing.

7. Task No.6: Non-linear optics.

8. Task No.7: Quantum properties of light.

9. Task No.8: Measurement of layer thickness using the absorption of X-ray radiation.

Study Objective:

Knowledge:

Principles and application of various optical components in optical laboratory, knowledge of optical measuring devices, knowledge of experimental aspects of the measurements in optics.

Skills:

Experimental skills in the field of optics, design and construction of optical setups, measurement of various optical signals.
