Students know mathematical models of problems in civil engineering practice and they are able to solve them by various analytical and numerical methods.

Systems of differential equations of the 1st order and their applications in technical problems. Fourier series. Variational methods. Weak solutions. Partial differential equations of the 2nd and 4th order, biharmonic operator, equations of plates, carrying walls, heat conduction equation, oscillation equation of a string. Temperature behaviour of an insulated rod. Approximate solution of ODE and PDE in civil engineering problems.
