Lecturer:
František Podzimek (gar.)
Tutor:
Supervisor:
Department of medical branches and humanities
Synopsis:

The target of the subject is to acquaint students with principles of ionizing radiation detection and measurement with a special regard to the use of radiation monitoring in radiation protection. A description is presented of characteristics of basic radiation detectors including functions of particular crucial electronic blocks for processing and evaluation of detector signals. In addition to detectors as active radiation sensors, characteristics and parameters of integral dosemeters, particularly film dosemeters and thermoluminescence dosemeters (TLD) are also discussed. Basic principles of radiation protection are summarized and explained with emphasize put on the control of irradiation under normal and emergency conditions. Special features are also discussed of the control of irradiation of employees and population. Main applications of detectors and dosemeters for the measurement of radiation and radionuclide activity in occupational and human environment are mentioned. Special attention is paid to the control of irradiation of patients and control of the management quality in radiotherapy, radiodiagnostic and nuclear medicine.

Requirements:

credit

Processing essay, the student receives at the beginning of the semester.

100% attendance at lectures. Documented illness or incapacity medical report is considered as absence. The method of compensation determined by the teacher.

At least one paper on the designated topic.

A lower% participation - a written test in the last week of teaching in the summer semester - The success of the test at least 80%.

test

Without obtaining credit and write credit in baskets is not possible to implement a test!

Oral exam - three questions on topics

First The system of dosimetric quantities and units

Second Radioactivity, interaction and effects of ionizing radiation

Third Detection and use of ionizing radiation

Note: The interval between regular and remedial or corrective exam tests must be at least seven days.
