Synopsis:

Principles of the radio systems and theoretical and practical aspects, radio function blocks. Aviation telecommunication service and its significance. Space communication systems, deep space communication, communication protocols and coding. Modern aviation VHF and HF communication systems, principles and design fundaments. Aviation VHF and HF data communication systems. Satellite communication. The lectures respect ICAO and RTCA standards. The knowledge is applicable in aerospace industry.

1. Information transmission via radio

2. Radio waves propagation and its aspects for aviation and space communication

3. Channel coding and its application in aviation and space communication

4. Analog and digital modulation for aviation and space communication

5. Aviation telecommunication service in VHF (118 - 137 MHz) band

6. Aviation telecommunication service in HF band, HFDL ? HF data communication

7. Aviation VHF data links (VDL mode 1 and 2)

8. VDL mode 1 and 2 application - ACARS, AOA

9. VHF digital voice communication systems (VDL mode 3)

10. ADS-B system based on VDL mode 4

11. SatCom - Mobile aviation satellite service

12. Cospas/Sarsat ? International Satellite System For Search and Rescue

13. Space communication, deep space communication

Study Objective:

Acquaint of the student with the radio engineering and its application in avionics and aviation communication.
