Synopsis:

Subject is devoted to principles and technologies of airplane distributed systems and their employment. Widely used standard systems are then presented together with their features and specific application areas with focus on reliability and redundancy. Finally the EMC basics are explained and typical EMI and EMS evaluation methods are presented with focus on distributed communication.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction into airplane distributed systems, classification and application parameters.

2. SAE standards used in aerospace - AIR 1189, 4013, AS5370.3. Aerospace buses ARINC 429, 629, 659, 818.

4. Aerospace buses for small airplane CSDB and ASCB.

5. Military airplane buses STD 1553, 1760, 1397 and 2204.

6. Automotive technologies in aerospace - CAN, CAN aerospace, Flex Ray.

7. Data networks in airplanes - Fast Ethernet, WiFi, application specific requirements.

8. Reliability of distributed systems, redundancy, error recovery, diagnostics.

9. Electromagnetic compatibility - basic terms.

10. EMI and EMS, overview of electromagnetic interferences and their source in airplane.

11. Electrostatic discharge, duty airplane systems under influence of electrostatic discharges into airframe.

12. Electromagnetic interference and susceptibility - analysis and testing methods.

13. EMC focused airplane systems design.
