Synopsis:

Philosophy of electric drive dimensioning, dimensioning and design of drives with induction motors and drives with induction motors fed by frequency converters, specificity of AC machines frequency control, drives with ventilator load characteristic and possible savings of electric energy, applications of electric drives for various types of working mechanisms (fans, pumps, conveyers), synchronous motors fed from current source inverter, permanent magnet synchronous motor drives and reluctance motor drives, stepping motors, electric drives to the explosive risk environment, electric braking, reliability and methods of reliability indicators calculation, organisation of building development, technical documentation and its structuring

Requirements:

Credit conditions: attendance by the study laws, activity in course of the exercises, proper solution and elaboration of assigned project tasks

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction, basic philosophy of electric drive dimensioning

2. Organisation of building development, technical documentation and its structuring

3. Dimensioning and design of drives with induction motors

4. Dimensioning and design of drives with induction motors fed by frequency converters

5. Specificity of AC machines frequency control

6. Drives with ventilator load characteristic and savings of electric energy

7. Application examples of electric drives for various types of working mechanisms (fans, pumps, conveyers)

8. Asynchronous motor fed by voltage source inverter with amplitude control

- time waveforms, dimensioning of components

9. Asynchronous motor fed by voltage source inverter with pulse width modulation

- time waveforms, dimensioning of components

10. Synchronous motor fed by current source inverter

- time waveforms, dimensioning of components

11. Electric drives to the explosive risk environment

12. Permanent magnet synchronous motor drives and reluctance motor drives, stepping motors,

speed control principles, feeding converters

13. Reliability, basic terminology, methods of reliability indicators calculation

14. Electric braking
