The course is designed for students with basic knowledge of English, which corresponds to Level A2 up to B1 in the Council of Europe Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The aim of the course: The course develops real-life communicative skills and powers of self-expression.

Students are required to actively master the grammar, vocabulary as well as the other skills covered in the outline of the course.

The course objective is to practise and develop speaking skills in every day situations based on the learners' own experiences as well as to organise and develop the knowledge of grammar in easy-to-use exercises.
Vocabulary: Lexical items are seen in context, showing how words and phrases collocate with each other. Lexis involves describing people, places, nationalities, sport, employment, time expressions, shopping, money, hobbies, dating, education.
Speaking: Activities focus on personalised speaking tasks based on the learners' own opinions.
Reading: Realistic reading of various types of texts (simple extracts from journals, postcards, cartoons, jokes). All items are given in context.
Listening: Includes conversations, interviews and classic pop songs.
Writing: Writing letters, a job application, an online application to get a grant, description of people, places, narration.
Grammar: Subject and object questions, countable and uncountable nouns, comparative and superlative adjectives, present perfect tense, past tense, future forms with ?going to? and present continuous, modals of advice, obligation and permission.
