Synopsis:

The course is suitable for students studying English as their Major language on the levels B1- B2 based on the principles of The Common European Framework. The objectives are the broadening the knowledge of general English, text working, extension of lexical, phrase and metaphor use, understanding the spoken English, conversation, information exchange, clear pronounciation and natural intonation.

Requirements:

- Mid-Term and Final Credit Tests- Accuracy 60% each.

- Attendance- is allowed to be absent three times at maximum.

- Students are supposed to work independently on home assignments and actively during the classes.

Listening: Focus on overall listening comprehension: dialogues, interviews, conversations, discussions, practical situations, finding the main information in the text.

Reading: Popular educational texts and articles about contemporary topics, reading for information and details, interpretation of a text, dictionary use, understanding metaphors, expressions and terminology, scan and deep reading.

Speaking: Formal nad informal discussions, having arguments, giving advice, exchange of personal or general point of view, linking information, talking about popular stars, family relationships, money and digital technology, health problems, sport.

Writing: Formal and informal letter applying official or unofficial language.

Grammar: Auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs, question tags, short answers, indirect questions, to infinitive, gerunds, expressing future, used to, present progressive tense, present perfect simple and present perfect progressive, adjectives, articles and conditionals.
