The course is designed for students who study the English language as a major program and whose knowledge of English corresponds to Level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students are supposed to reach Level C1.
Course objective: The course focuses on consolidating communicative skills, practising difficult grammar points and covering selected fields of technical communication.

The course objective is to practise acquired grammar concepts, consolidate communicative skills with an emphasis on accuracy and fluency of the discourse, and create active topic-related vocabulary used in context.
Listening: Authentic texts and interviews aimed at processing information from the text with subsequent argumentation.
Reading: More demanding texts, articles and extracts from books, newspapers and magazines, short stories, and technical texts.
Speaking: Focus on pronunciation, stress and intonation. Presentations, technical and topic-related communication, commentary, argumentation, deduction, expressing preferences and opinions, giving reasons, agreeing and disagreeing, ending a discussion.
Writing: Articles to the editor, letters (personal, formal, letter of application/cover letter), Curriculum Vitae/resume, seminars on specialised topics, short stories.
Grammar: Revision of tenses, participles, gerunds, participle clauses, reported speech, past modals, compound adjectives, word formation.
Vocabulary: New words in English, formal vocabulary, discourse markers, verb patterns, collocations, idioms and phrasal verbs, prepositional phrases. Paraphrasing, inversion. Syntax of specialised texts.
Using monolingual and online dictionaries.
