- Supervisor:
- Department of Telecommunications Engineering
- Synopsis:
-
The subject discusses telecommunication networks from different perspectives - physical principles, structure, applications, etc. Students are introduced to elementary concepts and principles in the area of communications, services provided in telecommunication networks, assessment of service quality, traffic engineering and dimensioning of network elements. The presented principles and methods are illustrated using examples of specific communication networks - ISDN, data transmission networks, fixed as well as mobile ones - and accompanied by an overview of communication over power lines.
- Requirements:
-
In order to obtain the credits, students have to meet the following conditions:
1) Be successful in the test (at least „E“).
2) Succesfully deliver 2 assigned reports.
3) Participate in all practical exercises.
The examination is based on a test, optionally followed by an oral part.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1. Telephone channel, voice signal processing, Frame E1.
2. Backbone transmission systems and networks.
3. PDH, SDH, OTH transmission systems.
