The course is designed for students attending the bachelor´s program Software Technologies and Management, who study English as a compulsory subject and whose knowledge of English corresponds to Level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students are supposed to reach Level C1. Course objective: The course focuses on consolidating communicative skills, covering selected topic-related technical texts and practising difficult grammar points.

Academic achievement - students are due to:
- Take an active part in the language instruction.
- Deliver a 10-minute presentation on a selected topic.
- Meet the requirements for home assignments.
- Succeed in both the midterm and the final term tests with the success rate set at 70%.
Attendance - Students are allowed to be absent twice during the semester.
Requirements will be specified by individual teachers during the first class of the term.

The course objective is to consolidate skills aimed at gathering information from technical texts, studying and developing topic-related vocabulary, and processing information in guided presentations.Grammar: Revision of tenses, making questions (direct, indirect, subject), modal verbs with emphasis on past modals, passives,gerunds and infinitives in complex sentences, subject-verb agreement, articles, adjectives and adverbs, verbs+prepositions, time clauses, prepositions of time and place. Reading: Topic-related technical texts, interpreting graphs and diagrams, mathematical expressions. Writing: Developing presentation skills and techniques, summarizing the content of an article, writing short essays. Vocabulary:terminology based on informatics, graphics, economics and management. Translating technical texts using monolingual and online dictionaries.
