Synopsis:

The course is focused on materials for electrical engineering and technology of their processing in electrical products with emphasis on the area of power electrotechnics. Materials for conductors, superconductors, dielectrics, insulators, semiconductors and magnetic materials will be presented including their properties. Influence of pureness, structure and processing of materials on their properties and basic technologies, which are used for their transformation in typical products for electrical engineering. Aging of materials and influence of aging on properties of materials is also presented

Syllabus of lectures:

1.Conductive and superconductive properties and their relationship with technology. Conductors, superconductors

2.Dielectric properties of materials and their relationship with technology. Dielectric materials and their types

3.Insulating properties of materials and their relationship with technology. Insulators and insulating systems

4.Semiconductive properties of materials and their relationship with technology. Basic types of semiconductors

5.Basic technologies for manufacturing of conductors, conductive foils and cables

6.Solders for electrical engineering, alloy Sn-Pb, lead free solders Electrically conductive adhesives

7.Plastic materials - structure, manufacturing, manufacturing of dielectric foils of plastic materials

8.Technology of manufacturing of ceramics and ceramic substrates for electrical engineering

9.Composites - manufacturing of printed circuit boards

10.Semiconductors - manufacturing of monocrystals and polycrystals, roperties of monocrystals and polycrystals

11.Manufacturing of mica and glass for electrical engineering

12.Thin films - materials, substrates, manufacturing of thin films

13.Thick films - pastes for thick films, substrates, manufacturing of thick films

14.Aging of materials for electrical engineering and its relationship with changes of their properties

Syllabus of tutorials:

Training will be realized in labs, the time of one training will be 2 hours. Therefore the labs will be organized in 7 weeks, starting with third week of the semester. Students will be awarded by a credit in last week of the semester
