- Department of Telecommunications Engineering
- Synopsis:
-
The subject The Communication in Data networks familiarize students with a major functional principles in area of data networking. The intention is to provide integrated insight into a protocol based communication for a majority of data networks used today applying a layered OSI model approach. The subject also allows for getting a better understanding of communication methods based on TCP/IP protocol stack that has been used for a long time in the Internet. The subject also familiarize students with a basic function and design methodology of structured cabling systems in relation to a particular local area network technology to be used. In the sphere of LAN students will establish a basic understanding and usage of switched ethernet technology. Wide area networking in this subject is covered by explaining a role and function of new technologies like MPLS and ATM.
