Synopsis:

Basics of practical design of antennas for specific frequency bands, modeling, design and construction of antenna and antenna systems for specialized usage - transmitting and receiving antennas, antennas for fixed and mobile systems, satellite antennas, antenna technology. Antenna measurement methods, practical measurements in antenna laboratory. Modeling on professional software tools for antenna design - simulators of electromagnetic field in frequency - domain and time domain.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Basic aspects of antenna design, transmitting and receiving antennas

2. Antenna modeling in frequency and time domain, numerical methods

3. Materials for antenna construction, its electrical and mechanical properties, certification, endurance

4. Antenna measurement methods, filed strengths measurement, measurement of directional, phase and polarization parameters

5. Input impedance and gain measurements, measurements on models

6. Design of wire antennas, LF and MF antennas

7. Design of antifading and VHF antennas

8. Construction of linear antennas, V antenna, quadrant antenna

9. Design of traveling wave structures

10. Antenna feeders

11. Rules for receiving antenna construction

12. Reflector antennas design

13. Special antenna design and construction - mobile services

14. Antennas for cars and airplanes, surveylance antenna systems

2. Modeling and computations in frequency domain - software simulations

3. Modeling and computations in time domain - software simulations

4. Input impedance measurement of wire antennas - antenna laboratory

5. Input impedance measurement of planar antennas - antenna laboratory

6. Measurement of field strengths and radiation pattern of wire antennas - antenna laboratory

7. Measurement of field strengths and radiation pattern of planar antennas - antenna laboratory

8. Gain measurements

9. Phase diagram measurements

10. Polarization measurements of wire and horn antennas
