Synopsis:

Subject gives fundamental knowledge of the structure and operational characteristics of the power system of Czech Republic. It surveys particular sources of electric power, their modes of operation including influence on environment, fundamentals of system control and systems of equipment maintenance. Fundamentals of electrical strength of insulation systems are explained, too.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Contemporary state and the strategy of power engineering development, fundamentals of the power legislation

2. Structure and operational characteristics of the power system in CR, systems for transmission and distribution of electric power

3. Fundamentals of power plant operation. Power system control. Role of dispatching centres in transmission of electrical power. Faults in systems operation

4. Structure and operational characteristics of power plants (thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, alternative power plant)

5. Survey of equipment of power plants and switching stations. Circuit diagrams. Self-consumption of power plant

6. Operational modes of power sources, their influence on environment

7. Fundamentals of power systems control, business and service measurement

8. Maintenance systems of power systems equipment

9. Fundamentals of electrical strength

10. Electrical strength of insulation systems

11. Electrical discharges

12. Insulation systems of power system equipment

13. Evaluation of insulation system states, testing and diagnoses

14. Overvoltages, determination of insulation levels

8. Electrical strength of solid insulation exposed to AC voltages

9. Application of methods for determination of impulse electric strength

10. Measurement of surface discharge parameters

11. Electrical strength of air under AC and DC voltages

12. Evaluation of electrical strength of composite insulation systems
