Synopsis:

Mathematical model of the commutator machine, basic equtions. Magnetic field. Commutation. Single- and three-phase transformer. Basic equtions for harmonic current and voltage. Influence of harmonics. Efficiency, volt drop. Transient phenomena - switch to the network, cut-off. Mathematical model of synchronous and induction machine. Rotating magnetic field. Induction machine - equivalent circuit, voltage equations, vector diagram, torque. Starting and speed control. Magnetic field harmonics and their influence. Single-phase induction motor. Operation of the synchronous machine on the network. Torque, stability, overload capacity. Transient phenomena, cut-off.

Requirements:

The specified attendance on exercises, active working in the lab and right made measuring protocols are important for the credit obtain. The necessary condition for the exam making is signed credit.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Principles of electromechanical energy conversion. Power and machine size

2. Magnetic field, armature reaction, commutation fundamentals

3. Mathematical model of the commutator machine

4. Basic equations of the transformer, equivalent circuit, vector diagram

5. No load-, short circuit and load operation, efficiency, volt drop

6. Three-phase transformer, winding, harmonics

7. Special transformers. Transient phenomena - switch to the network, cut-off

8. Winding of AC rotating machines, rotating magnetic field

9. Equivalent circuit, voltage equations, vector diagram, torque of induction machine

10. Starting and speed control of induction machine. Influence of harmonics.

11. Single-phase induction motor. Three-phase induction motor working on the single-phase network

12. Mathematical model of the synchronous and induction machine

13. Operation of the synchronous machine to the independent load and to the network

14. Exciting systems of synchronous machines, transient phenomena, cut-off.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Lab-exercises can be united to two session blocks.

1. Organization of lab exercises, work safety in the lab, laboratory rules

2. Exciting of the parallel excited dynamo, voltage polarity change

3. Magnetic field in the air gap of DC machine. No-load characteristic

4. Load of DC motor, loaded motor speed control

5. Transient phenomena by the transformer switch to the network

6. Three-transformer winding connection, vector angle

7. Transformer parallel operation

8. Three-phase transformer properties by the non symmetrical load

9. Determination of an induction motor parameters by the measurement

10. Induction motor loading, circle diagram

11. No load- and short circle measuring of a synchronous machine

12. Determination of a synchronous machine model parameters by the measurement

13. Determination of a synchronous machine model parameters by the measurement (resumption)

14. Corrective measurement. Evaluation of measure protocols. Credit
