Synopsis:

Topic is focused on problems of power electronics in wide range of industrial, traffic and others application. Lectures and laboratory training gives to student overview and practical experience in modern power electronic devices and systems.

Requirements:

Active participation on solution of laboratory tasks, correct book-keeping of measurement documentation and results processing. Presentation of measurement reports.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Electrostatic precipitators

2. Welding rectifiers

3. Supply for accumulator charging

4. Pulse-control of resistive load

5. Cathode protection of metallic devices

6. Electronic converters for DC traction

7. Electronic converters for AC traction

8. Electronic supplies for excitation of electric machines

9. Semiconductor switches in LV mains

10. Semiconductor switches in DC networks

11. FACTS converters for energy transmission systems

12. Control circuits for special machines (stepping, reluctance, DC brushless)

13. Supplying of special motors (linear, oscillating, vibrating), piezoelectric motors

14. Converters for home electrical appliances

1. Introduction to laboratory measurement, safety in laboratory.

2. Measurement of accumulator charger characteristics

3. Measurement of welding aggregate characteristics

4. Excursion to factory- electrostatic precipitators

5. Excursion to factory- accumulator chargers

6. Measurement on excitation system of synchronous generator

7. Measurement on excitation system of synchronous motor

8. Measurement of semiconductor „zero switch“ dynamic parameters

9. Softstarter transient phenomena analysis

10. Measurement on parallel resonant converter

11. Measurement on serial resonant converter

12. Excursion to factory- DP METRO

13. Excursion to factory- DP- Tramways

14. Measurement reparations. Credit
