Synopsis:

The course is offered by the Department of Mechanics and Material Science K312,1st semester. After written examination the students receive qualification of instructed persons (Notice No. 50/78). In the second part of lectures are discussed relations between structure and properties of materials. Semiconductors, insulators, magnetic materials, conductors, superconductors, polymers, composites, structural materials.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Atom structure, chemical bonds, real structures of electroengineering material

2. Conductivity of the I. and II.class conductors, materials of conductors, contacts and resistors

3. Inorganic and organic semiconductors

4. Dielectric and insulating materials

5. Materials of capacitors and insulators, special dielectrics

6. Optoelectronic materials

7. Technical characteristics of magnetic materials, magnetic properties origin

8. Magnetic soft and hard materials, materials for information storage

9. Superconductivity and superconductors

10. Structural materials metallic and nonmetallic

Syllabus of tutorials:

This program is intended as a preparation for the operation of and work on electrical equipment and installation and includes practical work in laboratory according to the requirements of Czech standards. The material properties measurments complete the lectures content. The program is obligatory.

1. Safety in laboratory. Introduction to soldering and wiring practices

3. Soldering practice on PCB(Voltage divider,Multivibrator)

4. Soldering practice on PCB(Voltage divider,Multivibrator)

5. Wiring practice (installation in TN-S and TN-C systems)

6. Wiring practice (installation in TN-S and TN-C systems)

13. Laboratory. The dielectric materials properties as a function of temperature and frequency.
