Synopsis:

Electrical and electronic measuring instruments, digital instruments, methods of measurement of electrical quantities (voltage, current, power, frequency, resistance, capacitance and inductance), basic magnetic measurements, basics of measurement systems.

1. Accuracy of measurement. Analogue meters. PMMC meter

2. Iron vane and electrodynamic meters. Measuring amplifiers with OA. Converters of average value

3. DC and AC current and voltage measurements - methods and instrumentation

4. Measurement of frequency and phase shift

5. DACs and ADCs. Digital multimeters

6. RMS converters. Measurement of sum and difference. Analogue multipliers. Instrument transformers

7. Measurement of power and energy (1- and 3- phase circuits)

8. Measurement of resistance - methods, instruments, converters

9. Measurement of impedance and admittance(L-R, C-G)

10. Measurement of B, H, and magnetising characteristics

11. Analogue and digitising oscilloscopes and recorders

12. Sampling methods of measurement. Instruments controlled by microcomputers

13. Data acquisition systems. Logic analysers

14. Spectrum analysers. Generators of measuring signals

1. Introduction, safety in lab. Oscilloscope - basics of its use in measurement

2. Frequency dependence of AC voltmeters. Influence of form factor on meter readings

3. Voltage divider. Measuring amplifiers (low DC voltage)

4. Frequency measurement. Phase shift measurement using counter and oscilloscope

5. Measuring rectifier. Low currents measurement

6. DA converters. Dual slope DVM

7. Principle of signal sampling. One-phase active power using instrument transformer

8. Three-phase power of imbalanced load. Test I

9. Measurement of low resistances. Imballanced Wheatstone bridge

10. Digital impedance and admittance meter. Digitising oscilloscope, application of passive probe

11. Amplitude permeability measurement. Measurement of the leakage magnetic field of the transformer

12. IEEE 488 measurement system. Test II
