Synopsis:

After a brief introduction to the FPGA technology and structure the labs are focused on getting a practical experience of FPGA usage, features and optimal use of the FPGA development (CAE) tools and simple functional blocks implementation. The second part of laboratory education is appointed for the individual student projects that implement SOC (system on the chip) devices either from the list of recommended applications or any individually selected design. The breadboard with the FPGA and local microprocessor is available.

1. Introduction into FPGA technology.

2. Structure and basic functional blocks of the selected FPGAs.

3. AHDL (VHDL, Verilog) programming basics.

4. FPGA design tools, implementation of an intelligent display controller.

5. Implementation of 1-bit D/A converter with over-sampling.

6. Individual project implementation (CD player, MP3 player, PCI interface.).
