Synopsis:

Main topics of the lectures are: CAD systems principles, CAD/CAM/CIM structure, customizing, 3D graphics, AutoLISP/AutoCAD, graphic database, ARX/Visual/AutoLISP, parametric modeling, design by features, Pro/Engineer, Visual Basic for Application, Product data management (PDM), concurrent engineering. The aim of seminars is to construct a professional CAD product application.

Requirements:

To get credits, students have to solve three problems, to finish semester project and to present it.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. C4 = CAD + CAM + CAE + CIM, position of AutoCAD in CAD

2. AutoCAD, basis terms, customizing, open architecture

3. 2D graphic editor, design structure, entity attributes

4. 3D modeling, basic principles, modern methods

5. Application development environment of Visual LISP

6. User interface design, menu, dialogues

7. AutoLISP, basic functions

8. Functional programming, data structures

9. Graphic database, symbol tables

10. Development environment and external databases

11. ObjectARX, structure of ARX aplication

12. Examples of other development environments, Visual Basic for Applications

13. PDM, EDM, CMC systems

14. Professional CAD systems, demonstrations, parameters for choice of CAD
