Synopsis:

Subject is introduction to computer aided real-time measuring and control. Subject especially describes hardware area (HW) of computing techniques used as aid for real-time measure and control. e.g. structures, functions and characteristics of computer systems, their modifications, control process instrumentation, peculiarity of real-time computer systems and professional computer control means for control of technological plants.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Computer architecture, structure, organization and subsystems. Data representation, ALU.

2. Transfer of information in computer, bus communication, bus arbitration.

3. Operation subsystem, CPU, computer architecture modification (SIMD, MIMD, pipeline, RISC, CISC etc.)

4. Control unit. Microprogram machine level, microprogramming. Instruction, microinstruction.

5. Memory subsystem, componets, memory types, charakteristics, addressing, protections.

6. Virtual memory. MMU, logical and physical address, virtual memory mapping.

7. I/O computer subsystem, I/O control. Peripherals, peripheral controller.

8. Interrupt system, structure, applications. Real-time systems. HW and SW collision watch.

9. Computer system, structures, modification. Technical and organization means, resource sharing.

10. Computer system programming means, compilers, interpreters, operation systems, OS services.

11. Processor and computer networks. Topology, characteristics, applications (LAN, MAN, WAN).

12. Microprocessors. Family iAPX x86, M68xxx, microprocessors for embedded applications

13. Standard internal (ISA, PCI, SCSI, VME,.) and external (RS232, USB,.) computer buses

14. Process instrumentation, data acquisition and processing systems

3. Task 1 - timer implementation for RT control

4. Task 2 - system time modification

5. Task 3 - external event service

6. Task 4 - serial communication

7. Test. Specification of main task 5.

8. Task 5 - position and revolution control of DC motor. Input IRC, output PWM, visualisation

9. Independent solving of main task 5.

10. Independent solving of main task 5.

12. Independent solving of main task 5.
