Synopsis:

This course focuses on hardware and software of the most important data transmission means (modems, baseband-modems, multiplexers, means for packet communication, ISDN devices¨), application of these means in telephone and data networks, especially in the specific environment of the Czech Republic. The emphasis is put onto practical introduction of the most important devices (modems, radiomodems), their operation and diagnostics.

9. The X.25 packet interface, its physical and link layers

10. Network layer of X.25

11. Access to a packet network, packetizers (PAD)

12. Properties of data interfaces in ISDN networks

13. Devices in ISDN networks

14. Technical and economical aspects of data services in host and data networks
