- Synopsis:
-
This course covers basic methods and approaches to image processing. Students will learn the basics of image formation and human visual perception, basic methods of image pre-processing, image restoration and filtration, image compression methods, motion detection in images and basic methods of visual object description. They will learn about basic image processing method applications.
- Requirements:
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1. Image as a multidimensional signal. Digitization
2. Processing in spatial domain. Linear and non-linear methods
3. Processing in frequency domain. Reconstruction
4. Image formation, geometry and radiometry
5. Hardware for Image acquisition, processing and visualisation
6. Image pre-processing. Geometric and intensity transformations
7. Edge detection. Segmentation
8. Lossless and lossy compression
9. Mathematical morphology
10. Colour
11. Texture. Motion
12. Medical Image Analysis. Satellite image processing
13. Machine vision. Visual inspection
14. Applications. Image databases. Images and multimedia
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
1. - 14. Students solve practical laboratory projects (one or two). The projectsset is open and can be tailored. In the projects, students use a standard image processing package to solve a simple image processing problem(image sharpening, segmentation, etc.).
