The course is open to students who are beginners in their second language. Course objective: Developing competence in basic Spanish - pronunciation and writing skills. Emphasis is also placed on understanding a simple dialogue as well as on mastering basic grammer structures.

The course is open to total beginners. Assessments (zápočty): The student must achieve a minimum of 75 points out of 100, i. e. for active work at lessons (30 points), and for tests (20 points for the first, 20 points for the second and 30 points for the final one).

Outline of Syllabus of Exercises: Course objectives: Developing competence in basic Spanish - spelling, pronunciation- Ability to understand a dialogue and to communicate in simple everyday situations. Ability to react using the most common words. Topics and situations: Greetings, meeting people, asking the way, describing people, employment, housing, telephone conversations, likes and dislikes, surprise, apology, necessity. Grammer: Pronunciation and spelling, nouns, articles, adjectives, the three verbs (to be). The most common regular ang irregular verbs (present tense), personal and possessive pronouns, numbers, prepositions.
