Synopsis:

The syllabus consists of conceptions, structures and properties of medical imaging systems (transmisive and reflective as well, active and pasive as well). There are included ultrasound conventional and tomographic systems and ultrasound Doppler flowmeters. Tomographic systems based on MR including functional MR and HR MR (3T). Electrical Impedance Tomography.

1. Conceptions of ultrasound medical imaging systems

2. Ultrasound transducers for image scanners

3. Mechanical and electronic decomposition used within the ultrasound imaging systems

4. Conversion of images from sector scanning into orthogonal scanning

5. Classification and structure of Doppler flowmeters

6. Detection methods of Doppler frequency shift

7. Color mapping of blood flow. Duplex systems

8. Physical fundamentals of magnetic resonance tomography

9. Signal processing and output image production. Methods of reconstruction

10. Methods of gradient fields scanning

11. Detailed description of MR system

12. Applications of MR in angiography and spectroscopy

13. Tomographic systems MR HR (High Resolution - 3T)

14. Electrical Impedance Tomography

1. Presentation of multimedia programs of ultrasound systems

2. Educational videotapes (training tapes) - commercial ultrasound systems

3. Laboratory experiment on ultrasound equipment (A mode)

4. Laboratory experiment on ultrasound equipment (B mode)

5. Laboratory experiment on echocardiograph

6. Laboratory experiment on CW Doppler

7. Educational videotapes (training tapes) - application of Doppler phenomenon in ultrasound systems

8. Educational visit - Clinic of Radiology - ultrasound imaging systems

9. Presentation of multimedia programs of tomographic MR systems

11. Detailed description of signal processing in MR systems. Structure of MR image - educational interactive SW

12. Detailed description of selected algorithm within the MR tomography reconstruction
