Synopsis:

The course covers two selected mathematical topics required for Master's degree in power electrical engineering. Namely matrix analysis and its application to the systems of ordinary differential equations, basic statistical methods for estimation of distributon parameters and testing statistical hypotheses.

Requirements:

The requirement for receiving the credit is an active participation in the tutorials.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Basic notion of matrix analysis

2. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

3. Jordan canonical form.

4. Symmetric matrices

5. Application to the systems of ordinary differentiation equations.

6. Probability space, random variable, distribution function.

7. Expectation value, variance and covariance.

8. Central limit theorem.

9. Random walk.

10. Basic notion of statistics.

11. Point estimation.

12. Parameter tests for normal distribution.

13. Tests of hypothesis.

14. Non-parametric tests.
