Synopsis:

Technology of electronic components in general. Film technology. Properties of thin films. Technology and materials of thick films. Film resistors. Varistors. Thermistors. Potentiometers. Capacitors with foil dielectric. Ceramic, electrolytic capacitors. Semiconductors. Fabrication of vertical and horizontal structures. Microwave components. Optoelectronic components.

Requirements:

The credit reguirements: seminar presentation, one protokol of labs and the student must obtain minimally 50 % of avaliable points in the tests.

Syllabus of lectures:

1.Technology of electronic components, world trends.

2.Identification of electronic components. Standards of nominal values.

3.The use of films in electronic components.

4.Resistors, varistors, thermistors, potentiometers.

5.Design of resistors, nominal value adjustment.

6.Capacitors - roll-type, ceramic, electrolytic.

7.Inductance devices, HF coils, chokes, transformers.

8.Piezoelectric resonators, filters, transducers.

9.Distributed parameter devices.

10.Microwave resonators, filters.

11.Semiconductor devices, fabrication of structures.

12.Survey of modern semiconductor devices and IO technologies.

13.Optoelectronic devices.

14.Packaging of devices.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1.Safety in laboratories. Instruction about lab. measurements - group 1.

2.Nonlinearity and noise of resistors.

3.Ferroelectric capacitors.

4.HF coils and transformers.

5.Resistor characteristics at HF and UHF.

6.Thermistors, varistors.

7.Evaluation of lab. reports.

8.Instruction about lab. measurements - group 2.

9.Piezoelectric resonators.

10.Microwave integrated circuits.

11.Transformers and filters with distributed parameters.

12.Active two-ports, scattering parameters.

13.Optoelectronic devices.

14.Evaluation of lab. reports. A credit.

Study Objective:

A student are well-educated of technology of electric components, properties of fundamental electronic devices and their quality testing methods
