Practically oriented three semester course of basics and applications of informatics for science and engineering included as obligatory alternative course. Constituent part is realized in computer classrooms. The second part of the course is "Introduction to computer algebra systems?.

Difficulties of scientific computing, algebraic and numerical computation, graphics. Computer algebra systems Maple, Mathematica and Maxima. Symbolic expressions, variables, functions and procedures. Simplification and manipulation with expressions, equations and systems of equations, fields and matrices. Symbolic derivative, integration, series, differential equations. Visualizations and animations. Elementals of programming in Maple and Mathematica.

The goal is to provide prospective engineers with such knowledges of computer technology and informatics that are at present necessary for effective practice of professional activities.
