Synopsis:

The lecture describes basic physical processes, methods and equipment used in experimental nuclear physics and in some practical applications.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic course of physics, detectors and physical practicum

Syllabus of lectures:

1.Introduction; particle kinematics, ionization losses

2.Multiple scattering, radiation length

3.Photo effect, Compton scattering, gama-conversion

4.Nuclear emulsions, cloud and bubble chambers, ionization chambers

5.Cylindrical ionization chambers, Geiger and streamer detectors

6.Semiconductor detectors

7.Cerenkov detectors, transition radiation

8.Scintillation detectors, photomultipliers

9.alfa, beta, gama -, neutron sources, cosmic rays

10.Particle accelerators

11.Detector simulation

12.Data analysis
