Synopsis:

The course is suitable for intermediate students who have an equivalent command of the language as someone who has completed book one of a language school text book. Course objective: To make it easier for foreign students to familiarise themselves with their surroundings and help them overcome the linguistic difficulties encountered during lectures and when reading technical literature, to be able to cope with everyday situations, both spoken and written Czech.

Course objective: To make it easier for foreign students to familiarise themselves with their surroundings and help them overcome the linguistic difficulties encountered during lectures and when reading technical literature, to be able to cope with everyday situations, both spoken and written Czech. Topics and situations: Food, clothes and footwear, inquiring, requests, introductions, apologising, agreement and disagreement.

Technical texts and terminology: Basic understanding of sub-technical texts and straightforward technical texts. Grammar: Aspect of a verb, the use of the perfect and imperfect form of a verb, technical style, verbal phrases which do not take prepositions, the conditional, definitions, numerals, numbers with cases, reading mathematical expressions and operations.
