Synopsis:

Course is primarily concentrated on principles and properties of 2D medical imaging tomographic systems as CT, NMR, SPECT and PET. Some lectures are devoted to microscopy. Within the CT and MRI medical imaging systems we concentrate on signal processing and image construction. We suppose fundamental knowledge in mathematics.

1. Classification and arrangement of Doppler flowmeters

2. Color mapping of blood flow. Duplex systems

3. Classification of tomographic methods. Physical fundamentals of tomogr. syst.

4. Mathematical preliminaries of computer tomography

5. Radon transform. Mathematical preliminaries of reconstruction methods

6. Mathematical preliminaries of the next reconstruction methods, comparison

7. X-ray tomography. Properties and processing of CT image

8. Positron-emission tomography (PET), Single-photon tomography (SPECT)

9. Physical fundamentals of magnetic resonance tomography

10. Detailed description of MR system. Methods of gradient fields scanning

11. Applications of MR in angiography and spectroscopy

12. Optical and fluorescent microscopes

13. Confocal miroscopes

14. Ultrasound and MR microscopes. Electrography and autography

1. Laboratory experiment on ultrasound equipment (A mode)

2. Laboratory experiment on ultrasound equipment (B mode)

3. Laboratory experiment on PW Doppler

4. Laboratory experiment on echocardiograph

5. Computations of fundamentals optical systems

6. Computations of fundamentals optical systems. Video

7. Mathematical preliminaries with repect to 2D function

8. Detailed description of selected algorithm of computer tomography

9. Implementation of CT algorithm on PC, education program

10. Arrangement of CT. Processing of image data. Structure of CT image

11. Video: CT systems

12. MR systems, arrangements and parameters

13. Detailed description of signal processing in MR systems. Structure of MR image
