Synopsis:

The subject describes the basic principles and concepts of power supplies used in electronic instruments. The subject explains the behavior of rectifiers, linear stabilizers, basic switching regulators, power supplies combinations, ovecurrent, overvoltage and undervoltage protections, overload and thermal protections, basic rules of application EMC in switch-mode power supplies, basic types of electrochemical supply cells. Recent trends in advanced power supply designs, recent devices and IC´s are mentioned.

2. Voltage regulators - parametric, analogue with feedback

3. Integrated voltage regulators

4. Current regulators

5. Switching regulators - flyback converter

6. Switching regulators - forward converter

7. Switching regulators - push-pull converter, double forward converter

8. Control circuits for switching regulators

9. EMC and interference in power supplies

10. PC switching power supplies

11. Connection of analog feedback and switching-mode regulators

12. Overcurrent, overload and thermal protection

13. Overvoltage, undervoltage, reverse voltage protection

14. Electrochemical and solar power supplies
