The subject describes the basic principles and concepts of power supplies used in electronic instruments. The subject explains the behavior of rectifiers, linear stabilizers, basic switching regulators, power supplies combinations, ovecurrent, overvoltage and undervoltage protections, overload and thermal protections, basic rules of application EMC in switch-mode power supplies, basic types of electrochemical supply cells. Recent trends in advanced power supply designs, recent devices and IC´s are mentioned.
