Department of Circuit Theory
Synopsis:

This course together with Circuit Theory 1 (the necessary prerequisite) gives the basic knowledge of the circuit theory and practice. The advanced methods of AC analysis and transient analysis are presented here. The course deals also with analysis of circuits containing multi-terminal elements, feed-back circuits and transmission lines. The course is obligatory for all students in the second year of study and it is a prerequisite for many following courses.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Non-linear, resistive circuits analysis

2. General methods of AC steady state analysis. Three-phase circuits

3. Periodical non-sinusoidal steady state (PNSS)

4. Fourier transform, Laplace transform. Operational characteristics

5. Operational transient analysis. Impulse and unit step response, convolution

6. Frequency responses, relationships between time domain and frequency domain

7. Two-ports, characteristics, two-port connections

8. Two-port transfer properties. Circuits with active two-ports.

9. Feedback circuits. Function blocs with controlled sources.Linear feed-back networks

10. Multi-terminals, generalised nodal voltage analysis

11. Circuits with distributed parameters, lossless transmission lines

12. The finite lenght transmission lines, wave reflections

13. Sinusoidal steady state on line with losses, standing waves
