Synopsis:

Conductive, dielectric and magnetic properties of materials and their relationships to technology of materials. Mechanical processing - influence on properties of materials. Manufacturing of Si sheets. Powder materials, ferrite. Polymers, aging. Manufacturing of glass, glass fibers. Mica. Technology of ceramics and semiconductors. Materials for impregnation. Printed circuit boards.

Requirements:

Student has to obtain credit before examination.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Conductive properties and their connection with technology

2. Magnetic properties and their connection with technology

3. Dielectric properties and their connection with technology

4. Phase transitions. Creating of solid phase. Nucleation. Cooling

5. Mechanical processing and properties of materials. Manufacturing of Si sheets

6. Soft solders. Materials for powder technology. Manufacture of ferrites

7. Preparation and structure of polymers. Aging of polymers

8. Technology of composites. Structure of inorganic materials

9. Glass, fabrication and properties. Mica, fabrication and properties

10. Technology of electroceramics. Manufacture and properties of semiconductors

11. Manufacture and properties of single crystals

12. Manufacture and properties of polycrystalline materials

13. Materials for impregnation. Liquid crystals

14. Materials for printed circuit boards a substrates for multichip circuits

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Organization of labs, instruction about safety of the work in the laboratory

2. Demonstration of measurements 1-4 and instruction for measurements

3. Demonstration of measurements 5-8 and instructions for measurements

4. Influence of technological process on properties of magnetic materials

5. Measurement on a single crystal of Si

6. Thermal dependence of conductivity of solid insulators

7. Frequency dependence of solid dielectric materials

8. Test, screening of records of students, completing of the measurements

9. Temperature dependence of dielectric constant of dielectric materials

10. Strength voltage of insulating foils

11. Elastic properties of solids

12. Problems of high voltage measurements of materials

13. Completing of measurements

14. Checking and evaluation of reports from measurements. A credit
