Synopsis:

Student will study principles of active (primary and secondary) radars and passive radars and various radar types. Erudition of signals and systems and theory of antennas and electromagnetic wave propagation in the land atmosphere is supposed. Obtained knowledge is useful in radio industry and development, in air traffic control and operation, meteorology, geodesy and cartography.

5. Radar subsystems: Transceiver, timing centre, display, diagnostics and control

6. Signal processor, radar signals and their spectra

7. Primary processing: Doppler filtration and signal compression

8. Primary processing: CFAR, target extraction

9. Secondary processing: Target tracking

10. Primary surveillance radars: 3D long range surveillance radar

11. Secondary radars for ATC

12. Passive radars

13. Radar sensors: FMCW rangefinders, Doppler sensors, UWB radars

14. Excursion: Radars in operation and production

1. Basic radar computation and character.: range, velocity, angle, PRF, bandwidth

2. Efektive RCS of simple objects: the sphere, 2 point scaterer, glint, lobing

3. Radar equation: refl. power/range diagr., cosec. ant. pattern, STC response

4. Radar equation: min. received power, transmitted power at prim. and sec. radar

5. Maximum range and coverage

6. Spectrum and time response of radar signals

7. MTI: calculation of the char. of the single and multiple delay canceler circuit

8. MTD: FFT calculation

9. CFAR: calculation of area and OS CFAR

10. Factors, lim. the Doppler suppr.: eff. of LO, COHO and the transmit. instabilities

11. The river radar: structure, processing chain parameters on signal response

12. Radars in operation: excursion at the radar producer and at the airport

13. Radars in operation: excursion at the radar producer and at the airport
