Synopsis:

Student will study fundamental principles of medical devices and systems, especially from the point of view of electronic circuits. Erudition of men physiology and circuits theory is supposed. Obtained knowledge is useful within the design and development, installation and service of medical devices and systems.

Requirements:

1. Fundamentals of electrochemistry, electrochemical potentials

2. Electrodes for biomedical applications

3. Biophysical sensors - temp., pressure, flow of fluids and gases

4. Biophysical sensors - humidity, position, tactile sensors, magnetic sensors

5. Biochemical sensors

6. Analytical methods in biochemistry

7. Breathing and respiratory gases, incubators, HF ventilators

8. Impedance diagnostic methods

9. Electrostimulators, electrosurgery, pacemakers, defibrillators, telemetry

10. ECG, EEG, EMG and phonocardiograph

11. Dilution methods for measurement of blood flow and cardiac output

12. Blood pressure measurement

13. Measurement of pulse rate and pulse oxymetry

14. Medical monitors (bedsides and centrals)

3. Measurement of electrodes potentials

4. Measurement of perfomance of ECG, EEG and EMG

5. Mesurement of saline conductivity

6. Explanation of next laboratory experiments

7. Measurement of magnetic properties of tissue samples

8. Contactless measurement of position and tactile sensors

9. Dilution flow measurement

10. Test. Explanation of the next laboratory experiments

11. Measurement of blood pressure and dermal resistance

12. CCD spectrophotometer for measurement of mixture concentration

13. Measurement of „flow-volume“ (f-V) graph and SpO2

14. Evaluation of laboratory experiments, assessment
