Synopsis:

Modern information and estimation theory application to communication systems. Main blocks of systems. Coding for effective and reliable information transmission. Source and channel coding. Block and convolution codes. Systems based on spread spectrum technique (CDMA).

2. Transmitter and receiver, basic blocks and their properties

3. Signal propag., direction antennas, signal to noise ratio on the demodulator input

4. Estimation theory basis, quality criteria

5. Estimation theory application on analogue modulations

6. Estimation theory applications on digital modulations

7. Information theory, communication channel capacity

8. Information theory application for communications system limits determination

9. Source coding, redundancy

10. Channel coding and FEC

11. FEC realisation block and convolution codes

12. Error probability in channel coding

13. Spread spectrum transmission, system gain

14. Spread spectrum for digital communication systems
