Synopsis:

The subject deals with main mechanisms of formation of overvoltages in power systems. It shows ways of protection against overvoltages and explains methods for measurement and calculation of overvoltages. It describes mechanism of lightning and ways of protection against lightning. Procedure of insulation co-ordination is described, as well as problems connected with electromagnetic compatibility in power systems.
