Synopsis:

History of power electronics. characteristics of diode, thyristor, transistor, GTO, IGBT. Centertap and three-phase half- wave rectifiers. Bridge rectifiers . Series and parallel connection of electronic elements. Electromagnetic compatibility, AC-AC controller, chopper, single-phase and three-phase inverter with self commutation. Indirect type frequency converters. Cycloconverters, impedance converters.

1. History of power electronics, basic concepts and definitions

2. Devices of power electronics, characteristics and properties

3. Single-phase half-wave rectifier, control characteristic, commutation

4. Centertap and three-phase half-wave rectifiers

5. Bridge rectifiers

6. Four quadrant rectifiers and their control methods

7. Series and parallel connection of electronic elements

8. Electromagnetic compatibility

9. AC-AC controller, principles of operation, characteristics

10. Chopper, principles of function and commutation, cooperation of chopper and DC motor

11. Voltage type inverters with self commutation, control methods

12. Current type inverters with self commutation, control method

13. Resonance type inverters, indirect type frequency converters

14. Cycloconverters, impedance converters

1. Introduction to laboratory, acquaitance with oscilloscope

2. Marking of semiconductor devices, usage of catalogues

3. Single-phase half-wave rectifier, different types of load

4. Thyristor centertap rectifiers

5. Single-phase bridge rectifier

6. Three-phase bridge rectifier

7. Reversible controlled rectifier, circulating currents

8. Series and parallel connection of semiconductor devices

9. Back influence of controlled rectifier on the network

10. Check test, calculation examples

11. Single-phase AC-AC converter
