Synopsis:

Interference caused by electric apparatus. Transient effects caused by interaction of electric apparatus and power lines. Influence of load with non-harmonic current consumption on switching processes in electric apparatus. Propagation modes for interferencing signals. International standards of electrical apparatus resistivity. Measurement and analysis methods of interferencing signals. Over-voltage protection of electric apparatus and influence of electromagnetic fields.

1. Cooperation of power and communication circuits with respect to interference influence

2. Switching apparatus interaction with power lines

3. Low frequency interference produced by electric apparatus

4. Theoretical fundaments of electromagnetic interference (EMI) analysis

5. Measuring methods and analysis of EMI

6. International standard requirements on EMC resistivity of electric apparatus

7. High frequency interference of electric apparatus and its measurement methods

8. International standards of allowed EMI levels

9. Design of electric apparatus with minimal EMI emission

10. Power losses of electric apparatus

11. Cooling of electric apparatus with respect to EMC requirements

12. Electric apparatus interface resistivity

13. Application of optoelectronic elements for improvement of EMC resistivity

14. Protection of electric apparatus and devices against atmospheric discharges

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Safety of laboratory works, laboratory rules, activation of first measurements

2. Current harmonic analysis of non-linear load

3. Computing of harmonic components

4. Influence of current harmonic components on switching process

5. Dependence of switching arc discharge time on current distortion

6. Current and voltage transient effects caused by switching of capacitor banks

7. Voltage and current frequency spectrum caused by switching of capacitor banks

8. Limiting characteristics of non-linear resistor voltage suppressors. Test circuit construction

9. Measuring and result analysis of non-linear resistor voltage suppressors

10. Limiting characteristics of over-voltage gas arrestors. Construction of test circuit

11. Measuring and result analysis of over-voltage gas arrestors limiting characteristics

12. Network filter attenuation measurement in low frequency area

13. Network filter attenuation measurement in high frequency area and result analysis

14. Correction measurement and assessment
