Synopsis:

Theories of low pressures and temperatures.Principles of basic types of vacuum pumps and their parameters. Work with vacuum apparatuses. Measurement of vacuum, cleanliness of vacuum. The use of vacuum in electrical production. Thermodynamic principles of cooling. Construction of devices for acquirement of low temperatures. Measurement of low temperatures, superconductivity, superconductors and their applications in practice.

Requirements:

A student has to take part of practical trainings and obtain a credit before an examination.A knowledges of lectured matter and laboratory tasks will be required at examination.

1. Principles of physics of low temperatures and pressure of gases

2. Pumping of vacuum systems

3. Principles of vacuum pumps

4. Measurement of pressures

5. Materials for vacuum apparatuses

6. Parts of vacuum systems

7. Vacuum technology in electrical production

8. Thermodynamic principles of cooling

9. Devices for obtaining of low temperatures

10.Thermodynamic properties of cryogenic liquids

11.Thermal capacity and conductivity of solids in low temperatures

12.Electric properties of solids in low temperatures,superconductivity

13.Transport currents in superconductors, stability of superconductors

14.Transport of heat at low temperatures, low temperature thermometry

3. Measurement of pumping velocity and characteristics of a vacuum pump

4. Demonstration of different types of vacuum pumps

5. Measurement of total pressures using different types of vacuometers

7. Searching and elimination of leakage on an ultravacuum system
