Synopsis:

Understanding of bank products and behaviour is quite significant for financial management of the enterprise. The subject Finance and banking provides a complex explanation of all essential banking transaction and selected financing transactions. Students have an opportunity to acquire a complete understanding of the principles and practices of banking management, bank transactions and their utilisation in practical decision making and management of the bank. Topics covered include all main bank products, central banking, regulation of banks, payment systems and instruments. The subject provides father knowledge of deposits banking instruments, credit bank transaction, bank guarantee, collateral and alternative financing instruments.

Requirements:

The exam requirements are specified by curriculum of the subject. During training courses the active participation, the solution of examples and presentation of given subject are required.

1.Characteristic of a bank system and bank activities, fundamental functions of banks

2.Transactions and systems of banks, type of banks, role of commercial banks in the financial system

3.Central banking, regulation of banks, supervision of a bank sector

4.Bank-to-bank transactions

5.Management of bank business and finance, liquidity and profitability management, assets and liability management

6.Payments system and instruments

7.Foreign business and foreign payment systems

8.Letter of credit, documentary collection

9.Deposit banking instruments. Credit bank transactions

10.Credit risk management - screening and monitoring, credit rationing, calculation of interests, kind of credits

11.Bank guarantee

12.Factoring, fortfaiting, project financing

13.Mergers and acquisitions.
