Synopsis:

This subject is targeted for students who want to learn to analyse, formulate and implement the strategy in business. Provides substantive material as well as the process for integrating business knowledge for strategic planning, policy formulation, competitive advantage and achieving results. The subject identifies models of strategic management, including vision, mission, objectives, needs resourcing assessment and environmental analysis. The subject itemises, defines and explains corporate strategy, the tools, practices and decision-making in dynamic strategic process.

Requirements:

Seminar credit requirements :Attendance, presentation, active participation.

Exam of knowledge from the following headings :

1.Determination of strategic management conception and main strategic management development period.

2.Essential objectives of top management for strategic management.

3.Strategic cogitation, model of strategic cogitation.

4.Definition of strategy and its characteristics, hierarchy of strategies, company vision, mission and targets, incl. marginal conditions.

5.Signification of company strategic planning (procedures bottom up and upside down).

6.General and particular company goals.

7.Internal and external company surrounding analyses (factors influencing internal and external company surrounding and characterization these influence).

8.Factors of general and competitive company surroundings and their determination for strategy creation.

9.Characterization and utilization of model "7S? MCKinsey.

10.Resources and description of causal model.

11.Characteristic of harmony/ conformity model.

12.Characteristic of SWOT analysis utilization in strategic management.

13.Scenarios and their utilization of strategic management.

14.Organization structure influence for strategy formulation.

15.Characteristic of Porter five factors model.

16.Characteristic of essential models of company/ SBU strategic position appreciation and resources of product strategic position appreciation.

17.Comparison of GE matrix and BCG matrix.

18.Quick analysis methods of company financial situation (quick test, Altman index, value index, "spider? analysis).

19.Checking process, segmentation of deviations, their signification.

20.Strategic management and characteristic of checking process.

21.Implementation and strategic management.

22.Characteristic of company strategies models.

7.Porter?s model, generic strategies.

8.Analyses of internal environment, factor analyses, model "7S?, causal model, value chain.

9.Scenario method, Porter?s model of scenario, GE scenarios, SMIC method (M. Godet).

10.Scenarios under the name of Kees van der Heijden.

11.Evaluation methods of corporate/ SBU strategic position.

12.Formulation of strategy. Characteristics of grow, stabilization and restrictive strategies.

13.Business and functional strategies.
