- Supervisor:
- Department of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics
- Synopsis:
-
Fluid dynamics is the science of the mechanics of liquids and gases and is based on the same fundamental principles that are employed in the mechanics of solid. Fluid mechanics is a more difficult subject while within fluids there are not separate elements to be distinguished.
- Requirements:
-
The students are assumed to have an adequated background in calculus, physics, engineering mechanics and thermodynamics.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
.- Dimensions and units
.- Euler?s Equation of hydrostatic
.- Force exerted by a flow against a flat wall
.- Force exerted by a flow against a curved wall
.- Buoyancy
.- Relative balance (of a rigid body motion) with system of reference attached to the body, linear and rotational
.- Steady flow of ideal fluid
.- Outlet flow from a tank
.- Looses in pipelines
.- Non steady flow
.- Relative flow (rockets)
.- Dynamics effect of flow against a wall
.- External flow

- Study Objective:
-
* To cover the essential principles and equations of Fluid Dynamics
* To present numerous and diverse real world engineering and some examples to give students a feel for how fluid dynamics is applied in engineering practice.
* To develop and intuitive understanding of fluid dynamics by emphasizing the physics and by supplying atractive figures and visual aids to reinforce the physics.
