Synopsis:

The course conveys knowledge on the basic functions and service characteristics of electrical power engineering main components. It deals with electric energy sources and appliances: transformers, power inverters, generators, chemical and photovoltaic sources, DC and AC motors. The course notifies of contact electric apparatus, of generation, transfer and distribution electrical energy including electrical apparatus protection. Problems are test in the laboratory by line voltage.

1.Electric energy sources, properties and regulation

2.Powerl transformer, characteristics, equivalent circuit.

3.Rectifiers, controlled and uncontrolled. DC generators

4.Commutator motors. Separately excited DC motor

5.Series excited DC and AC motors

6.Induction motor, principle, equations, rotating field genesis, equivalent circuit

7.Characteristics, starting and control of induction motor

8.Synchronous machine, principle, equivalent circuit, phase diagram. Stepper motors

9.Controlled small power drives.

10.Remedy of disfavour effects of semiconductor convertors in network

11.Electric apparatus. DC and AC circuits switching

12.Nuclear, thermal, hydraulic, gas turbine and wind power plant

13.Electrical energy transfer and distribution. Protection of electrical devices

14.Chemical and fotovoltaic electric sources

Syllabus of tutorials:

1.Rules for laboratory work. Control of sources

2.One-phase transformer, no-load and short-circuit characteristics

3.Half-wave controlled rectifier at R and RL load

4.Full-wave bridge rectifier at R and RL load

5.Separately excited DC motor: starting, control characteristics

6.Separately excited DC motor: speed-current and torque-current characteristics

7.Induction motor: torque-speed and current-speed characteristics

8.Induction motor supplied by frequency converter, torque characteristics

9.Synchronous generator at island operation and its connection with network

10.Synchronous generator: co-operation with network, V - curve measurement

11.Small motors of mass application: demonstration, control, characteristics

12.Series excited small AC motor: speed and torque characteristics

13.BLDC permanent magnet motor: control and loading

14.Circuits with contactors for control of induction and DC motors
