- Synopsis:
-
This course focuses on basics of physical optics and its applications in engineering and biomedicine. Various physical effects and processes from the field of wave optics are thoroughly discussed (e.g. interference, diffraction and polarization of light) together with their consequences and practical applications in optical instruments. Fundamentals of physiological optics. There are also shortly mentioned the following problems: the photon theory of light, the quantum principle of interaction of light and matter, basics of laser physics, principles and design of optical instruments in science, engineering and biomedicine (especially in ophthalmology and optometry).
