Department of Measurement
Synopsis:

Students will gain knowledge for the design and implementation of systems for processing and digitization of analog signals. They will deepen the knowledge acquired in previous theoretical subject and gain practical experience in the design and analysis of systems for signal processing, AD conversion and data acquisitation. Emphasis is placed on reducing uncertainties, speed, stability and resistence to interfering signals.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1.Basic chain for processing and digitization, uncertainties, noise, freguency spectrum shift

2.Operational amplifiers, types and properties, frequency characteristics

3.Linear signal processing, electrometric, instrumentation and isolation amplifiers

4.Nonlinear signal processing, logarithmic amplifiers, mean and RMS converters

5.Signal filtering, types, properties, continuous and switching filtres

6.Signal switching, contact and semiconuctor multiplexers, sampling circuits

7.Application of Fourier transform for signal processing and digitization, discrete FT, Z transform

8.Coherent modulation and demodulation of sensor signals, principles, circuits and reduction of uncertainties

9.Sampling and quantization of signals, types of sampling, quantization error, signal-to-noise ratio

10.Digitization of fast signal, flash, cascade and approximation AD converters

11.High resolution digitization, integration and delta sigma converters, dithering

12.Signal reconstruction, types and properties of DACs, signal generation, direct digital synthesis

13.Testing of digitizers in the time and frequency damain

14.Principles of design in terms of EMC, suppression of interfering signals, circuits and physical topology
