Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to teach the student to understand the basic principles of the function of personal computers, their peripherals and communication interfaces. They will be able to configure the network interface and configure and connect a peripheral type of a standard medical devices equipped with a wired or wireless interface.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1.-2. Course introduction, assessment and exam requirements. Importance and practical examples of information and communication technologies deployment in health care. History, basic structure and classification of computers.

3.-4. Motherboard, bus, BIOS, autotest, processor, operational memory, HDD and SSD disks, memory cards, sound cards, graphical/video cards/adapters, monitors, keyboards, mouses, printers and skenners.

5.-6. Universal I / O ports (USB, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, HDMI, S / PDIF), RS232 as a virtual COM port and its use in practice, modems. The most common buses for connecting peripherals in microprocessor systems (IIC, SPI), the most common buses for communication of devices and systems in health care, standardization.

7.-8. Operational systems. Mobile sensing platform, data evaluation and transfer. Bluetooth and NFC interface.

9.-10. Computer networks, LAN, WAN, layer reference model OSI, LAN basic technical toolses (Ethernet, WiFi and their practical usage). Internet - browsers, used standards and languages.

11.-12. TCP/IP architectute introduction. Protocols and addressing, local network connection, brány a směrovače.

13.-14. Terms as „server“, client-server architecture, frequently used TCP/IP net architecture protocols: HTTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, VPN.

Syllabus of tutorials:

4 hours block:

1.-4. Physical introduction of individual PC components, PC setup and recovery, installation of operating system.

5.-8. PC network configuration, PC connection to the Internet, connection and configuration of network peripherals via Ethernet interface.

9.-12. Connecting and configuring network peripherals via WiFi, Bluetooth, connecting and configuring smart phones and wireless peripherals.

13.-14. Assessment test, evaluation, assessment.
