- Synopsis:
-
The subject of daylighting must be understood as a complex issue that intersects with a number of technical and non-technical fields. The European standard for assessing daylight in buildings evaluates the quality of the lighting environment in buildings in terms of daylight availability, view quality, glare risk, and sunlight exposure. The course offers an introduction to working with measurement technologies and calculation tools for assessing and optimizing lighting in and outside buildings.
- Requirements:
-
- Interest in a deeper understanding of daylighting
- willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
- Introduction to daylighting theory,
- The human visual apparatus
According to the focus of the doctoral thesis
- Illumination of buildings and spaces
- Contribution of daylight
- Evaluation of the view
- Daylight glare probability
- Multi-criteria assessment of visual and thermal comfort in buildings
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
The content of the practical assignment will be chosen in the context of the thesis topic, for example
- Measurement of daylight factor
- Determination of light transmittance, reflectance of materials
- Luminance analysis and glare assessment
- Spectral analyses
- Computer based daylighting analyses
- Multicriterial analysis of daylighting and thermal comfort
- Study Objective:
-
The goal of the course is to acquire, consolidate general overview of the field of daylighting, and deepen the knowledge of the subject covered in the student's doctoral thesis.
